Hotels in Siem Reap
I often hear travelers say a hotel room is just a place to fall into at night. But talk to those same people a little longer, and you’ll find what they’re really looking for: comfort, quiet, and the kind of delicate, thoughtful touches that turn a stay into part of the journey itself.
The four luxury boutique hotels in Siem Reap I’m telling you about in this article open the door to exactly that kind of incredible experience — enriched by elegant common spaces, restaurants serving both traditional Cambodian dishes and international recipes (often with vegetarian and vegan options, too), pools, spas, and personalized excursions to discover Angkor, Siem Reap, and the surrounding area in comfort and safety, going beyond the more touristy experiences and genuinely connecting with the country and its people, thanks to the local knowledge that every one of these luxury boutique hotels shares generously with its guests.
Rooms and suites deserve a special place of their own here — this is where you’ll live out unforgettable moments during your trip to Cambodia.
Thanks to this blog, I’ve had the honor and the pleasure of staying at all four luxury boutique hotels I’m writing about, and if you’ve been reading my articles and following me on Facebook for a while, you already know I always tell my experiences with complete honesty.
Here’s the truth: after spending a night or two in the rooms or suites of each property myself, I can tell you a room is never just somewhere to leave your bags. It’s where you create lasting memories with the people you love, take care of yourself, and discover a different way of living day-to-day life — slower, more mindful — than the one you know back home.
Wake up in a soft bed, the sounds of nature playing quietly in the background. Let your gaze wander around the room, its shape coming to life in front of you. Get up without any rush, knowing a generous, delicious breakfast — included in the price — is waiting to be savored slowly. Every flavor becomes a small pleasure. Every gesture is part of a choreography on Cambodia’s stage.
We’ll get into the specific room and suite options at each property soon, but for now just know this: every single room is filled with the kind of detail that turns Cambodia’s traditions and craftsmanship into something you can actually feel — an atmosphere that carries the same spirit as everything waiting for you just outside the door.
Every room and suite is dressed in luxury furnishings and design details meant to make your stay comfortable, exclusive, and utterly sophisticated — with room service on hand for meals savored in complete privacy. That’s exactly why a room in a luxury boutique hotel is never just a room. It’s the doorway into a world of elegance, enchanting details, and experiences that will stay with you long after the trip itself has ended.
The four luxury boutique hotels featured in this article are:
- Jaya House River Park;
- Maison Polanka;
- Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat;
- Shinta Mani Angkor.
Jaya House River Park: A Stay That Feels Like a Dream
Jaya House River Park is a gorgeous riverfront luxury boutique hotel, known throughout the city and beyond for its commitment to the community and the environment. Simply by choosing to stay here, you’ll be supporting its work through concrete initiatives like planting trees along the river and in other community areas around the city.
What’s more, your trip can start before you’ve even boarded the plane. Pick up one of the Nutritional Book Drive titles on Amazon, written to guide disadvantaged children and teens on their own path toward learning how to truly take care of themselves.
There’s a warmth to this place that goes beyond the room itself — elegant common spaces to relax in, two beautiful pools, a rooftop bar where the street below unfolds like a film right in front of you, a refined restaurant, a spa, and personalized excursions that take you through Angkor, Siem Reap, and everything around it, not only in comfort and safety, but with the freedom to venture beyond the usual tourist routes, too. Jaya House River Park isn’t just located in Siem Reap — it’s woven into it. And choosing to stay here means truly becoming part of the world around you.
What makes the stay even sweeter are the small touches: a generous and delicious breakfast included in the price, to start every day off right. Free tuk-tuks are yours to use whenever you like, so you can get around town without a worry (the hotel even has tuk-tuks equipped for guests with disabilities), and the minibar in your room comes fully stocked, on the house — perfect for those unforgettable moments with the people you love, in the privacy of your own space.
Now let’s talk about the rooms — because this is where the real magic begins. If Angkor is the reason you came, then your room at Jaya House River Park is the reason you’ll want to stay a little longer than planned: a place of elegance, privacy and undisputed attention to details. It’s where you recharge after a day among the temples, where you sit with the people you love and talk through what tomorrow might hold, or where you simply open a book and let the atmosphere around you do the rest.
I’ve had the honor and pleasure of staying at Jaya House River Park, and even after years of calling Siem Reap home, I found myself wrapped in something few hotels ever manage to create. The staff — every one of them Cambodian — carry a warmth and a quiet professionalism that opens a real door into this country through the stories of people who have always lived here. At Jaya House River Park, nothing is rushed, and nothing feels forced. Everything moves just like a river — calmly, without hurry, certain of where it’s going. That’s why you’ll be easily carried into a slower, gentler version of the world, where the noise of everyday life grows distant and it may even disappear, if only for a while.
Within this setting, the rooms and suites only deepen that sense of peace and wellbeing. A hotel room was never meant to be just a bed you fall into at night, tossing and turning because it’s uncomfortable, or trying to sleep when someone down the hall keeps talking aloud. That worry has no place here. Jaya House River Park is an adults-only property, which means privacy and peace are never in question, and silence is broken only by the sounds of nature drifting in.
Whichever room you choose, you’ll feel that familiar tension leaving your shoulders the moment you step through the door. You’ll likely already be smiling, thanks to a personalized welcome by the hotel team, enriched by a cool drink and a scented towel. And Cambodia is all around you – you feel it in the small details of history and culture woven into the rooms and suites alike, as if the country itself were speaking to you directly.
That’s why choosing your type of accommodation at Jaya House River Park is never really about choosing a room. It’s all about the experience that’s waiting for you the moment you walk through the door. Here’s a closer look at the rooms and suites at Jaya House River Park:
- Deluxe Twin Rooms. Ideal for a work trip or a getaway with a friend, this room sets you up for easy, unhurried days, with views over the pool or the tropical gardens. Either way, nature never really leaves you — it stays close from morning until night, adding to that steady sense of wellbeing. At 38 square meters, the room holds small details that can turn any stay into something like a daydream: a selection of house-made teas, high-speed internet, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Malongo espresso machine, so that even far from home, you never have to give up on a good cup of coffee. The room can also connect to a Deluxe Room, comfortably fitting a family or a larger group of friends.
- Deluxe King. Whichever accommodation you choose at Jaya House River Park, you’ll find beds so soft and so genuinely comfortable that I can vouch for them myself. Here, a king-size bed takes center stage, surrounded by the same touches I wrote about in the previous paragraph. At 38 square meters, the Deluxe King is made for a couple’s getaway — an anniversary, a proposal, or simply a few days set aside for each other — offering quiet, exclusivity, and a touch of romance, with views opening onto the tropical gardens or the pool. This room, too, can connect to a Deluxe Room.
- Junior Suite For those who want more room to breathe — a separate living area, and an extra layer of exclusivity — the Junior Suite offers everything mentioned above, shaped into a stay you won’t easily forget. Sleep deeply in the soft bed, then wake to the gentle sounds of Cambodian mornings and a view over the pool that feels almost too beautiful to be real. Three of the Junior Suites come with an outdoor shower, letting you slip fully into the nature around you, wrapped in complete privacy.
- Junior Pool Suite This is the finest experience you can find at the hotel. Jaya House River Park’s signature is a guarantee of warmth, humanity and solidarity that adds up to an incredibly comfortable suite environment. The Junior Pool Suite, at 90 square meters, comes with a private pool of its own. Think of it as your special corner of paradise, where you can either spend quality time with your loved one or relax by yourself. The Junior Pool Suite carries all the comfort you find in the other types of accommodation too but, in my opinion, the private pool is what really elevates the experience. That brings a special kind of exclusivity to the stay, something you’ll remember long after the trip ended.
Add in the quality of the furnishings and an exclusive, attentive service, and it’s easy to see why the Junior Pool Suite is more than just a home away from home. It’s a small oasis of peace and elegance. An essential part of your unforgettable trip to Cambodia.
Shinta Mani Angkor — Where Every Booking Gives Back
Choosing Shinta Mani Angkor – a beautiful luxury boutique hotel just steps from the river – for your stay in Cambodia doesn’t just mean immersing yourself in pure luxury; it’s also a way to do good simply by booking a room.
Staying at Shinta Mani Angkor also gives you the opportunity to support its Shinta Mani Foundation, which helps disadvantaged Cambodian youth by providing them with hands-on training and real job opportunities to build a better future.
As the years have gone by, the Shinta Mani Foundation has continued to grow and now supports small business owners, families, and entire communities. Guests who wish to do so have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the work of the Shinta Mani Foundation for themselves by leaving the city behind for a few hours and joining the local staff to discover the positive impact of its projects and the difference they make in the lives of local people.
That’s why, at this incredible luxury boutique hotel, a room isn’t simply a room. It’s a gateway to real, genuine support, trusting the expertise and skills of the people who know Cambodia best and call it home.
Shinta Mani Angkor is an oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of the city. Enjoy the two stunning swimming pools, relax at the spa, start every day right with a big, tasty breakfast included in the rate, and during the day, indulge in meals that give you the chance to taste local flavors as well as enjoy comfort foods from international cuisine.
The hotel also offers personalized excursions to explore Angkor, Siem Reap, and its surroundings in complete comfort, without having to worry about your safety. But the best thing is that you’ll get to really experience Cambodia, immersing yourself in the everyday life of the country and connecting with locals through genuine encounters made possible by Shinta Mani Angkor’s knowledge and presence, rooted in years of being part of the same community you’ll get to know.
Once you’re back at the hotel after your tour, take some time to explore the amazing BENSLEY Outsider Gallery and Boutique. Buying Bill Bensley’s artwork is just another way to support the crucial work of the Shinta Mani Foundation – and you’ll also have a unique piece of art to take home and display on your wall. Bill Bensley is a landscape architect and interior designer who has designed more than 200 hospitality properties worldwide, including Shinta Mani Angkor.
For those who wish to support local artisans, the BENSLEY Outsider Gallery and Boutique also offers the chance to buy locally made products.
Now, let me show you how your days and evenings will unfold in your Shinta Mani Angkor’s room or suite. These are the options waiting for you:
- Bayon Room. Styled in black and white, with tiled flooring and local handcrafted pieces adding character throughout, the Bayon Room comes with a patio or terrace overlooking the pool. The room is available with one king bed or two twin beds.
- Angkor Superior. Located in the Angkor Wing, this type of rooms blends modern comfort with a touch of tradition. Picture handmade lamps, local craftsmanship, and original artwork coming together to create an atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. The Angkor Superior looks out over one of the pools, framed by palm trees.
- Angkor Deluxe. Perfect for those who want a little extra space, this type of room looks out over one of the pools, with palm trees lending an atmosphere that’s tropical and exclusive at once. There’s the option to add an extra bed, making the Angkor Deluxe the ideal choice for families, or simply for anyone after a bit more space.
All rooms come equipped with a 42-inch flat-screen LCD TV, free WiFi, a tea and coffee-making set, a rain shower, and an in-room safe. Shinta Mani Angkor also offers interconnecting rooms, ideal for families or groups of friends.
Now, it’s time to discover the Pool Villas. They surely deserve a mention of their own, and I can say this because, thanks to my blog, I had the honor of staying in one of them. Believe me when I say that spending a few nights in one of these villas means nothing less than finding yourself in paradise.
Carrying the unmistakable signature of Bill Bensley, the Pool Villas are his vision of luxury in Cambodia, creating a type of accommodation that is hard, if not impossible, to match anywhere in the city or beyond.
Shinta Mani Angkor has 10 Pool Villas in total, all tucked away in lush greenery and each featuring a stunning 9-meter private pool where you can spend time with your loved ones in complete privacy or simply enjoy some quiet time on your own. Each villa measures 156 square meters and is spread across two floors. And then there’s the butler, one of those details that, for me, makes the stay even more special — always there for room service, tips on what to do around the city, or anything else you might need.
It’s quite hard to describe the Pool Villas, as they offer such a unique experience that you really have to stay in one to believe it. Envision an extraordinary blend of modern comfort and Cambodian soul, paired with amenities that turn a stay into something almost unbelievable. Perfection isn’t just a word here. It’s something you can actually live.
Picture yourself moving through your own private villa, letting your eyes wander over antiques and works of art gathered from around the world, sweeping three-dimensional murals that seem to breathe life back into the legendary King Jayavarman, all surrounded by every modern comfort you could imagine or wish for.
The rooftop sky lounge is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, a quiet moment to yourself, or simply watching the sun go down over Siem Reap. And as if all this weren’t enough, staying in one of the Pool Villas also includes:
- Daily breakfast for two adults;
• A complimentary bottle of welcome wine;
• A fully stocked bar and seasonal fruit, replenished daily;
• Packing and unpacking service;
• Daily laundry service (dry cleaning excluded).
Maison Polanka – Where Every Room Tells a Family Story
Maison Polanka is a stunning luxury boutique hotel just steps from the river, and it’s also home to Jean Pierre and Nathalie, who was born in Phnom Penh to a French mother and a Cambodian father. Stay here, and you’re not just checking into a hotel — you’re stepping into their world, a microcosm where family history shows up in every detail.
Ask Nathalie, and she’ll show you the black-and-white photographs she’s held onto over the years, snapshots of a Cambodia that, in many ways, is gone now. Or catch Jean Pierre for a conversation about the life he left behind at 40, when he became a monk and founded Chantiers Écoles, a school built to train young former soldiers — many of whom had never set foot in a classroom — in construction and craftsmanship. What began there later grew into Artisans d’Angkor.
This is the boutique hotel for anyone who wants to really feel Cambodia, not just pass through it — people who want to live it through the stories of those who’ve called this place home for decades, and lose themselves in the books on life and personal growth scattered around the property.
Maison Polanka is a slice of paradise, tucked into lush greenery that sets the tone for every day you spend here. Head out and explore Angkor, Siem Reap, or the countryside beyond on one of Maison Polanka’s personalized excursions — comfortable, safe, and never rushed. Then ease into your morning with a delicious breakfast included in your stay, at the restaurant overlooking the pool, with the sounds, scents, and colors of nature all around you before you’ve even had your first sip of coffee.
Maison Polanka is a world of its own, where the noise of everyday life just melts away. Walk barefoot and feel the grass brush against your ankles. Take a culinary and sensory journey like nothing you’ve experienced before, through recipes served at the hotel’s elegant restaurant — dishes passed down from generation to generation long before they ever landed on your plate. Every bite carries old stories and a modern touch, shaped by Maison Polanka’s own style and by the spirit of Nathalie’s family.
Treat yourself at the spa, whether that’s a traditional massage or a fitness class.
Book a room at Maison Polanka, and you’re really booking a trip back in time. Watch a black-and-white Cambodia come alive around you: Nathalie and Jean Pierre share their own stories, photo albums blend collective history with personal memory, and every last detail in the atmosphere seems to capture what still makes this country so unique today.
I had the honor of staying at Maison Polanka myself, and I can tell you it was pure magic. I’ve called Cambodia home since 2022, and I love it more than words can really say. That’s why getting a glimpse of a time before I was even born, or when I was still just a kid, felt like a window opening onto a world I never got to live myself — but one that still found its way into my heart, thanks to the stories Maison Polanka holds onto.
The comfort level here is second to none. The staff is always around when you need them and never hovering when you don’t, happy to help with any question or with planning out your days in the city.
Rooms are set in beautiful, traditional Khmer houses, filled with Cambodian photographs and paintings, plus Art Deco and 1950s pieces the family has been collecting since 1992.
Let’s take a look at the different room types at Maison Polanka:
- Garden Cottage. This two-bedroom house is perfect for a family. The newest addition to the Maison Polanka property, the Garden Cottage was found up in Kompong Thom province and moved to this enchanting luxury boutique hotel in 2018. The main bedroom is home to one of Maison Polanka’s most striking pieces of art — a 2.4 x 2.4 meter lacquer panel by artist Lim Muy Theam, depicting the 1975 destruction of the National Bank of Phnom Penh.
- The Maison. Nathalie and Jean Pierre once lived here themselves, and this beautiful house now offers four spacious rooms, perfect for a family or a small group of friends. Each suite has its own distinct style, where art and tradition meet contemporary luxury and authenticity.
- The Green Suite — where I stayed during my time at Maison Polanka — is bright and spacious, filled with sunlight pouring in from the large terrace. And speaking of the terrace, that’s the perfect spot to relax with a book or spend quality time with the people you love. If you’re up for it, you can even sleep under the stars, on an antique coconut-wood bed fitted with a mosquito net.
- The Yellow Suite has an upstairs bathroom and a contemporary Asian feel throughout the room. A beautiful outdoor wooden bridge leads to a spacious lounge area overlooking the pool and garden, where you can unwind or catch up with Nathalie, Jean Pierre, and your loved ones on comfortable, elegant 1950s sofas and armchairs.
- The Orange Room is a cozy space, with two single beds and large windows that look out onto the garden.
- The Purple Suite stands out for its traditional tiles, handmade right there on-site. To reach the room, you’ll walk down a hallway and a wooden staircase lined with photographs of the property’s silk-weaving farm, dating back to 1993.
- Khmer House. This traditional Khmer house was rescued from demolition when it still stood just a few kilometers from Maison Polanka. Carefully dismantled and faithfully restored, it’s now one of the standout features of the hotel. Built on stilts, the wooden house has an open living area on the ground floor and a spacious, air-conditioned bedroom upstairs, complete with a modern bathroom. What really sets the Khmer House apart is its antique furniture, the finest in the entire hotel — among the highlights, a 1930s child’s bed turned into a small sofa, and three-legged mahogany armchairs. Especially well suited to couples, the Khmer House offers a cozy, private escape that makes your stay at Maison Polanka feel even more special.

Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat — Where Wellness Starts in Your Room
Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat is a beautiful resort, about a ten-minute tuk-tuk ride from the city center, where wellness isn’t an add-on — it’s the whole point. Every part of your day naturally leans toward finding your center and slowing down, doing some real inner work. Maybe that means a yoga class at sunrise, a reiki or sound healing session, or, if you’re craving something deeper, one of the wellness packages or full retreats.
This gorgeous, Italian-run luxury boutique hotel has long been a home base for people already deep into their own inner journey. But just as often, it’s the guests who’ve never really explored anything like this before who end up surprised — checking in as one person and checking out as someone a little different.
The resort itself is spread across lush tropical gardens, with nature as the backdrop to everything you do here. Then there are the three pools — including a seawater one — perfect for slow afternoons and for simply being with the people you love.
Start your morning off right with a generous, delicious breakfast, included in your stay. The restaurant, overlooking two of the pools, is where you’ll find yourself lingering over a good meal between swims, or before heading back to your veranda to just relax, taking in the quietness. Come evening, that same restaurant turns elegant, and dinner becomes one of those moments you’ll still be thinking back on, long after you’re back home.
That same attention to wellness shows up on the menu, too, with options for vegetarians and vegans built right in. The chef’s own wellness menu lets you enjoy healthy, thoughtfully made dishes, while the fusion of Asian and Western cuisine means you can take a whole culinary and sensory journey without ever leaving the resort.
Given all of that, it’s easy to see why the rooms and suites at Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat aren’t just a place to come back to in the evening after a day spent exploring Angkor, Siem Reap, or the surrounding countryside on one of the resort’s personalized excursions offering safety, comfort, and a real way into the world around you.
The rooms and suites here feel like exclusive pockets of luxury, where every detail has been carefully thought through. I had the chance to spend a couple of nights at Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat myself, and it was incredible. My room was truly a little slice of paradise, and I spent some of the calmest, most relaxing moments of my trip right there. Whichever option you choose, these accommodations don’t just play a supporting role in your stay — they elevate it in a way you won’t easily forget.
Here’s a closer look at what Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat has waiting for you:
- Explorer Room. Featuring hand-carved artwork from tribes living along the Cambodia-Laos border, the 18 Explorer Rooms measure 45 square meters and look out onto either the resort’s stunning gardens or one of the pools. Connecting rooms are available for families.
- The Grand Tour. Perfect for anyone who wants more space, the 4 Grand Tour Luxury Rooms measure 70 square meters and come with their own private, beautifully kept garden. Take advantage of the pool-view veranda to sink into a good book, or spend some quality time with the people you love.
- The Grand Tour Family. The ideal pick for families, the 2 Grand Tour Family Rooms measure 70 square meters and sit in their own distinct, one-of-a-kind pavilions. Families with young children tend to love this room type, thanks to the sofa that converts into an extra bed (120 x 200 cm), plus plenty of room for a baby cot.
- The Grand Suite. The 4 Grand Suites (Family Rooms) are set across two separate pavilions in the resort’s newest section. Here, space (each suite measures 100 square meters), luxury, and attention to detail come together for a truly exclusive experience. The best of what the resort has to offer, the Grand Suites feature an eco-chic, minimalist, contemporary design. Each suite includes a bedroom with a king bed and a separate living area that can be converted into a second bedroom with twin beds. Add in the artwork from tribes living along the Cambodia-Laos border, views of the private garden, a spacious furnished veranda, hardwood floors, and modern comforts, and it’s easy to see why the Grand Suites are the cherry on top of an already incredible experience.
Why Choose a Room in a Luxury Boutique Hotel
You already know this by now — book a room or suite at one of the four luxury boutique hotels in this article, and you’re supporting the local community, the environment, and Cambodian traditions. You’re also giving yourself something rarer: a trip where the place you stay matters just as much as the places you visit.
Days spent in this kind of comfort let you explore Cambodia rested, grounded, and unhurried, moving through the country with a depth and respect that only comes from properties rooted in their communities for years — places that can open doors most travelers never even know exist.
In these boutique hotels, every element plays its part — the service, the detail, the food, the spa, the pools, even the quiet corners you didn’t expect to fall for. Together, they turn your stay into something that feels made just for you, blending seamlessly into everything else your trip becomes.
A trip to Cambodia isn’t for everyone. It’s for those looking for something deeper: people who want to hear the stories, holding the past and the present together, without losing sight of what’s ahead. A journey like this is about real, honest conversations with the people who live here, seeking out what most visitors never find, and letting yourself get lost in a world completely different from your own — where every moment becomes part of a story that changes you.
A room or suite at one of these boutique hotels is your own quiet retreat of peace and exclusivity — somewhere to come back to each evening, still holding onto the spell of a country that moves like an Apsara dancer, graceful in every gesture, gentle in every word.
Because Cambodia is a dream.
And these four boutique hotels are where it begins.
